At DRIVING POTENTIAL, we help individuals return to driving safely, recommend adaptive equipment when appropriate, provide training for new drivers with unique needs, and /or assist in exploring alternative transportation if driving is no longer safe. If you have medical conditions that affecting your performance, I’m here to support you, address any concerns about driving, and assess your fitness and readiness to drive.

Comprehensive Driving Evaluation (Clinical assessment + On RoadAssessment ) for 3 hours

Note: Physician order for driving evaluation is required! Please download the physician referral form.

Clinical Assessment (In office) 90 min

You will undergo a comprehensive assessment of your physical abilities, including range of motion, muscle strength, coordination, and balance; visual skills such as visual acuity, peripheral vision, scanning, depth perception, and visual-spatial awareness; as well as cognitive functions such as, attention, problem-solving, processing speed, nevigation, and memory. The results of these assessments help determine your strengths and identify any potential challenges related to driving before proceeding to the in-vehicle evaluation.

Please note that a single failed test does not automatically determine your driving competency. Based on your overall performance during the clinical evaluations, the administrator will decide whether you are ready to advance to the behind-the-wheel assessment. If the results indicate that an on-road evaluation would be too risky, you will not be charged for the behind-the-wheel evaluation.

On-Road Assessment 90 min
If the clinical assessment indicates that it is safe to proceed, the client will participate in an on-road assessment. During this session, the therapist will evaluate the client's safe car transfers and actual driving performance in real-world conditions. If the client has memory decline or mild cognitive impairment, it is recommended that a family member, friend, or caregiver be present during the wrap-up session to help understanding of the assessment results and next steps.

Total $610 (Tax included)

$310 for Clinical assessment

$300 for On-Road assessment

Note: $75 per hour travelling fee may apply for out side of the city of Bakersfield.
